Your Journey Towards Confirmation

Confirmation is a commitment to Catholicism–it represents a solemn vow that you believe as the Church does and that you deeply desire to be part of the Church for the rest of your life. You are confirming your identity as a Catholic. In order to properly prepare our teens for this commitment, we are beginning a preparation program for those focused on that Catholic identity and that practice of being Faithful members of the Church. To enroll in this program, click here to fill out the intent form.

Living as a Young Catholic

All high school teens are invited to attend SALT. Those wishing to be Confirmed as Catholics should be regularly attending SALT as part of their lives as Catholics. It is therefore expected that all Freshmen and Sophomores will be at youth each week during the school year. If, for some reason, your child is not able to participate, please contact Mary.

There will be several other youth opportunities available in the next two years aside from youth group on Sunday nights–just as we would love to see our teens at them after Confirmation, we encourage Confirmation candidates to attend these as well, whether it’s a weekly small group meeting, a trip, or a special event.

Part of being an active Catholic is service. Confirmation candidates, as they prepare to make the Church their permanent home, should look for their own comfortable place in it. Saint Anthony’s is blessed to have many ministries, and the energy and creativity of our youth is incredibly valuable to them. Each candidate is encouraged to explore their options in order to discover where God has called them to participate. If you are interested in a ministry and don’t know where to begin, or are interested serving in a way in which St Anthony’s does not yet participate, contact Mary.

Preparing for the Sacrament

In order to make sure our teens are ready for the Sacrament of Confirmation, they will, in addition to the activities of a regular Catholic mentioned above, be required to attend classes specifically geared towards Confirmation preparation.  These will be every 2nd Sunday from 3:00-7:00pm.

Our hope is that, by undertaking these elements of Catholic life and Confirmation formation, our youth can make an informed decision when they determine that they do desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Most strongly, we emphasize that, should these activities present an obstacle to our teens Confirming their dedication to continue in their lives as Catholics, teens and parents should immediately contact Mary so that necessary considerations can be made.

As we strive to give our teens the best Confirmation experience possible, we require a $75 tuition fee, which covers the cost of materials.  As we spend this money directly on the materials for your child, multi-child discounts are not available.

At this time, registration is closed for the 2016-2017 school year, but we invite you to mark your calendars for next year’s registration in May.
